Service life of the battery is an important factor in case of making decision on purchase of the electric vehicle. In BMW claim that lithium - ion batteries in their electric cars will serve longer than cars themselves and will be useful further – in a household or industry.
According to Andreas Wright, head of the BMW battery development division, the company is monitoring the operation of power plants in plug-hybrids of BMW. Bavarians came to the conclusion that the battery life of electric vehicles is comparable to the life of the internal combustion engine, but unlike the ICE batteries, having worked in an electric car, then can be used for other purposes.
By 2025, 25% of all new BMW Group cars will be equipped with electric drive. Recently, the automaker revealed details about the power plants for their new models – 12 pure electric cars and 13 plug-in hybrids.
